Alexis
de Tocqueville Society
The Alexis de Tocqueville Society
honors donors who generously give $10,000 or more annually
and exemplify the spirit of philanthropy astutely noted
by Alexis de Tocqueville in Democracy in America:
|
“When
an American asks for the cooperation of their fellow citizens,
it is seldom refused; and I have often seen it afforded
spontaneously, and with great will.”
|
The Society was initiated by United Way of America in
1984 to more deeply involve influential leadership, encourage
major gifts and develop new resources. If they so choose,
members of the local Santa Fe County chapter are recognized
in the annual national roster of Tocqueville Society members
published by United Way of America. Members will be recognized
locally in special listings of the Tocqueville Society,
as well as in listings of the Summit Club.
Women’s Philanthropy Council
Women who contribute $1,000 or more
annually are invited to be recognized as members of the
Women’s Philanthropy Council and to participate
in the activities of this group. The Council was established
in 2002 to offer women direct involvement in initiatives
like the Santa Fe Children’s Project and to provide
a social forum in which they can meet and discuss related
philanthropic issues with like-minded women. WPC members
enjoy special listing in United Way publications as well
as recognition at the appropriate level of the Summit Club.
Young Leaders Circle
The Young Leaders Circle is
committed to advancing philanthropy among 21–40-year-olds
in Santa Fe. A minimum annual gift of $250 to United Way
of Santa Fe County’s Innovation Fund grants individuals
or couples membership in the Young Leaders Circle.
The group organizes social events, promotes volunteerism
and philanthropy and participates in educational programs
that result in personal and professional development.
YLC members are recognized in United Way literature under
a special listing and in the appropriate level of the
Summit Club members or Associates Circles. |
